Every Web site has its own unique address, called a URL (Uniform Resource Locator). If you want to visit a site, you need to type in its address, in the address bar of your browser as shown.
Each URL is divided into the following sections: http:// is short for hypertext transfer protocol and means that the file is a Web page. You do not need to type this part in as it will be automatically inserted by your browser it. The organisation and location of the address of the address is known as the domain name. |
